What does ISP stand for? and what does it mean?
Internet Service Provider - A company that provides access
to the World Wide Web.
Why does my modem disconnect me?
There are many reasons why this happens, let's take a look
at some of them.
1. Old wiring.
2. Static in the line.
3. If the line has been spliced, it is possible it is losing data.
4. If you have call waiting from the phone company on your computer line, it will
disconnect from the Internet when an in-coming calls ring in on that line. In most cases
this feature can be disabled.
5. Some web browsers have built in timers that disconnect an inactive user. The default
setting is 20 minutes for most browsers.
6. Incorrect settings on modem. Just because it connects, does not mean the configuration
of the modem is correct. Please see your user manual for configuration processes.
7. Having more than one communication program running at the same time by different
companies can cause conflicts with each other.
8. If you are inactive for 10 minutes. (NetWebb.com Users)
9. Your modem might need to be upgraded or reinstalled.

When I connect sometimes it connects at 26.400, 28.800 or
even at 31,200 why so many different speeds?
Do not rely on this number to decide if you have a fast
Internet connection. Since this number only reads your connection speed the instant you
make your connection, it is not an accurate way to determine your Internet speed. The best
way to test any connection is to download pages or programs from the Internet.

Why does my browser lock up or stop responding, and
sometimes it crashes my whole system?
This can happen because of coding errors within the page
you are visiting, or if your browser can not support a certain application. If the current
page you are viewing is trying to use programs, such as Java, Direct-X, or certain Scripts
and Animations. You can also upgrade the browser you are using either by going to the
browsers home page or clicking on "Help" at the top of the browser and look for
a upgrade link or the browsers home page.

When I get my e-mail from the server it keeps giving me the
same e-mail I have already received over and over. Why is this happening?
Within your mail program there should be an option that
allows you to select how you will receive your e-mail. Make sure you select or highlight
the Remove mail from host, most mail rooms have a limit on how much
e-mail can be stored on the host. NetWebb.com has a 2 meg limit on its mailroom, once this
space has been used, no new e-mail can be received.

Why when I try to get my e-mail from the serve, it does not
connect with the server or it gives me an error.
All mailrooms have a limit on how many users may access it
at any given time. This is done so that everyone can get their mail downloaded at a decent
speed, without everyone fighting for the use of the mailroom. If you do not feel this is
the problem then reboot your PC you could have a bad record for the mailroom, after
rebooting try again.

What does HTTP stand for?
HyperText Transfer Protocol.

What does HTTP do?
This is the standard protocol by which WWW clients and servers communicate.

What does HTML stand for?
Hyper Text Markup Language

What is HTML or HTM?
HTML and HTM are extension of files used by browsers.
Browsers read, and then display the file in your browser creating the pages you see. HTML
is usually the first extension that starts a web site. The extention index.asp was used
for NetWebb.com's home page. When someone types in http://www.netwebb.com
into their browser the index.asp file would load up automatically, without having to write
the whole PATH out. If you name your
file index.asp or anything else you will have to type the complete PATH in order to bring that page up.
example http://www.netwebb.com/index.asp (this link is not active) We use the
/index.asp tag.

What does FTP stand for?
File Transfer Protocol

What is FTP?
FTP is a program that web authors use to transfer files to
and from a web site.

Why can't I log into my FTP site?
Your FTP client
should tell you the reason why and give you a error code such as the ones listed below.
After you have determined the reason why you are having difficulties logging on, and have
done all the necessary log-on steps, then you should consult our FTP help files.
Can't get " " host entry
530 Not logged in - password incorrect

Why do my file names change when I look at
them though my FTP client?
If you use file names or images over 7
characters long, or have the extension .asp most FTP clients do not support long file
names. For example if you have a file named myimages.asp the FTP client would rename it to
myimage~.asp. Same thing happens when you use the extension .asp, the FTP client will make
the file named myimages.asp to myimag~1.asp or something similar.

What is a Host?
When you as a client store information or receive
information from another computer. The computer you are accessing becomes the host and you
become the client. In the event that
passwords are needed generally the computer that holds the passwords and logins are the
host.

What is a Client?
A client is a computer that accesses another computer by
passwords, login or both. When you are on the Internet you are a client to whoever you
dialed into to make your Internet connection. Your ISP would be your Host.

What is a Tag?
A tag is an internal code that a web author writes in to
make a browser act the way it should when the page is displayed. If web sites did not have
these special tags web pages would look all mixed up and unreadable.
